Wedding Band Outlet: Differences between Platinum and 18K White Gold
|
|
White Gold is an alloy of pure gold mixed with other metals such as
nickel ,silver and palladium which give it its unique color. Platinum is a white
metal that is used in jewelry in almost its pure form (Approximately 95% pure
Platinum). Since Platinum as a metal is naturally very white, it does not
have to be mixed or plated with Rhodium like White Gold. (Rhodium is even
more precious than gold). Platinum is heavier and more expensive than white
gold.
Platinum wedding bands are marked "950 Plat" which means 95% pure platinum.
The price of Platinum is usually at least 3 times more expensive than the price of gold.
The weight of a Platinum wedding band will usually be around 60% heigher than a 18K white gold Wedding Band.
